Yacht Racing Regatta

Coached by our professional skippers, you will go from complete novice, to fully participating in a genuine yacht race. This is a rare opportunity to participate in this safe, healthy & environmentally friendly sport. All equipment & training is provided at our RYA approved sailing centre in Brighton's modern Marina. This is not just sailing.. this is hands on yacht racing, fully participating in handling one of our 8m yachts against other novices & the elements!

Our racing fleet consists of between two & six identical sports yachts racing against each other, 'around the cans' off Brighton Marina. With effective boat handling and prudent use of wind & tides you will soon learn that this is a game of strategy and tactics. There is only one winner!

Half Day

• Meet your skipper and the rest of the crew for a general briefing
• Get kitted out with your wet weather gear and lifejacket and go through a safety brief aboard
• Receive training from hoisting the sails to helming swiftly around the race course
• The skipper will cover a few vital race rules while you prepare for the start of the race
• Return to the mooring and then over to the Yacht Club for the race results

Full Day

• Meet your skipper and the rest of the crew for a general briefing
• Get kitted out with your wet weather gear and lifejacket and go through a safety brief aboard
• Receive training from hoisting the sails to helming swiftly around the race course
• There may be time for a quick race rehearsal around our floating race course before lunch to see how we are progressing and what we need to work on
• Break for a light lunch before heading back to the yachts for the afternoon session
• Go over your new skills and tactics before a series of races between the other yachts
• The skipper will cover a few vital race rules while you prepare for the start of the race
• Return to the mooring and then over to the Yacht Club for the race results

Please allow approx 3hrs for the half day and approx 6hrs for the full day. Guests need to bring non – slip, soft soled shoes that may possibly get wet. Please also bring appropriate informal and comfortable clothing such as warm garments, sun protection cream, hats, sunglasses and drinking water. There are no toilets aboard the yachts, however, toilets, showers and changing facilities are very close by. Spectators are welcome to watch from the beach or yacht club. Yacht Racing is available on selected weekends from April to October.Please book early to avoid disappointment.

The minimum age is 16 years old. Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult. All gift vouchers are valid for 10 months, unless otherwise stated. We endeavour to dispatch vouchers by first class post on the day of purchase when ordered before 3pm. Next Day Delivery options are available upon checkout for an additional cost.
