CHIEFTAIN TANK DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The first thing you get to drive in this military driving extravaganza is a 432 armoured personnel carrier. This is a multi-roll track vehicle and is the squaddies favorite.

Next up on the menu is the Abbott Gun Tank, 17 Tonnes of military muscle that can fire a 105mm Howitzer over nine miles. These are still in service with some armies around the world.

The main event is a session driving a 56 Tonne Chieftain main battle tank. This was the mainstay of the British Army for over 30 years. It makes mincemeat of anything in its path and is still highly regarded by armies around the world.

In addition to all the action, some of the staff have served in Falklands and Gulf wars. A truly memorable experience.

Minimum age: 16. No previous driving experience is required, and nobody will be required to drive beyond their capabilities. Please allow approximately 3.5 hours for the Chieftain Tank Driving Experience. As this is an outdoor activity, you are advised to dress comfortably and warmly. Sturdy boots are advisable, as are waterproofs during wet weather. The Chieftain Tank Driving Experience is available on selected days from February until October. Spectators are welcome at a fee of £10.00, This includes a ride on a tank & complimentary tea and coffee, Children under 10 years are free. Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months.
